Hey guys, I'm rather new to the fun but expensive world of boats, I have good bit of mechanical knowledge as far as cars, trucks and bikes are concerned but never got the chance to work on a 2 stroke outboard. Me and a buddy just picked up a free old Grew with a 1974 Johnson 135hp V4 engine on it which has not ran in atleast 10 years likely more. I'm trying to figure out where to start as far as just getting it to fire up. I'm going to pull the carbs apart and clean and reseal them, inspect and likely replace the spark plugs check over all the electrical for frayed wires all the basic stuff but is there anything i need to know before i run it? I've heard a few guys say the water pump impeller should be replaced stuff of that nature, just double checking.
