I have a 1974 Johnson 25hp. I have replaced waterpump, thermostat, both cylinders are reading around 105 psi. After running for a while the tell tale will have steam coming out with the water. Should i worry? What else could be the culprit?

Is your motor getting hot. You should be able to touch the block by the cylinders and count 1 one thousand 2 onethousand (while running) Normally hot water comes out there so shouldnt be a problem. Youve got a motor that might run at 175 to 180 degrees and so the water coming out will be really warm coming out into cooler temps. Should be ok just make sure its cooling properly.

Steam??? I would worry. Steam is 212 degrees F...or more! When was the last time the impeller was changed? Sounds like you're due for a new one.
