Hi. I used to be on this forum but lost my password so had to start a new account. As the title says I have a 1974 50 hp Johnson outboard. When we bought it we knew it didn't run. We were told it was just the coils but upon replacement that did not fix the problem. Well I have been messing with it and noticed that on the timing base with the terminals disconnected when measuring across them with an Ohm meter, it says its an open circuit. The reason I am questioning this is because on another timing base we have it reads 14.4 Ohms. Which is right? Is the one on there bad? Any other help? Thank you

Re: 1974 Johnson 50hp- Timer base help

May have just answered my question, "4.Check the timer bases resistance from the black/white wire to the white/black wire. Reading should be 10-20 ohms" Be right back!! Gonna go switch it out. If anyone else has any help, feel free to add
