Just want to say thanks to everyone's input. Thinking about the trimming suggestion makes sense. I've had the motor all the way down the whole time. And yes I have noticed my battery not charging, pulled the cowling and was looking the motor over and checking spark plug condition, in the process I noticed a light somewhat oily / tacky film had ran down from the top of the motor, taste test definately not premixed fuel. I'm going to pull / test the rectifier and hope I don't have a stator problem. The stator is a 2 wire from what I've noticed.

The stator does not have anything to do with your ignition system, on that motor. Your ignition is powered by the battery. The stator and rectifier simply recharge the battery.

Took the boat out yesterday afternoon with a light wind of 5 to 10 . I played with the trim and got 50 mph at 5200 rpm the ride was smooth but I could see my brother n law was getting worried so I didn't try to get it to 5800 rpm with the 22p prop. Next time, extremely thrilled with the perfomance . Caught sandbass till dark.
