I need to back up A buddy of mine needed to get it out of were it was and had no place to put it, He had seen what I did with a 12' sea king
Picture084.jpg

and offered me her for $800 if I would take him out fishing when hes in town and if I would restor her. she came with two cannon down riggers eagle fish finder and bow mount foot controlled trolling motor. I fish three day a week so I will be doing all restore in sections I know I should just strip her and rebuild but I love the water to much

Now shes running and usable The first thing I needed to do was repair floor and bow seats. The back two floor panels need replacing but I think the rest is ok. so I replaced just the two and striped all pannels of vinyl and coated them with killz primer sealer with no slip grit.

She is looking real good . You need to go back up and redo some pics though you managed to get some side by side instead of in a row up and down and it has the thread all wacked out :D.

Nice looking boat. Good job with your restore so far. Count me in as one of the closed boat Starcraft guys lusting after an open bow.

Re: 1974 starcraft 16' super sport(update 12-30

I have been busy the last week painting and redoing the bow deck and floor. Time to do it right. Paint I went with rustoleum sail blue, in the rattle can. and used the spray gun handle frome ace hardware. Tons of prep work sanding down to 1000 grt. Good prep = good paint, three coats of paint and two coats of clear rustoleum. I am happy with the results.

Re: 1974 starcraft 16' super sport

That blue looks pretty nice, good work. 41mph is pretty good speed on the water, I'm hoping to get in that ballprk with my 80hp Merc after it gets tuned:D

Did you rip out the other deck and bow bench platforms? Are you sealing the ply with epoxy? Also may want to gluvit the interior hull in case you have any slow leaks before you put the new deck down.

Looks like you used it for the summer and are now redoing the whole deck and I'd say that's a good idea. The old wood will just hold moisture and add weight if covered with new.

I'm working on a 16' 1979 SS(yellow) so I can appreciate the project and look forward to seeing her all done:)

Now for the front deck all new wood 3/4" ply. I coverd them with fiberglass epoxy and tinted it gray. With no slip grip mixed in and paint flakes on top, and then a lite coat of clear. The dash is allso 3/4 ply epoxy, and tinted white. I will update what I have done with the floor in a day or two.

Real Nice ...I like the blue! I have the same boat with a 70hp Merc. It would be real nice to hit 40mph..Keep up the good work. What are you using for gas tanks?
