Hello everyone,
I have a 1975 135 hp Evinrude (135583E) that needs a lower unit and I?m hoping to find out what year/hp range will interchange. I?ve seen a few on Ebay and I want to make sure it will fit before I drop the $$$.

Thanks

Take a look in the "Top Secret File" at the top of the page, there is a conversion chart there that might help you out.

You'll need to get a lower unit which shifts using the belcrank system under the bottom carb. That system was used from 1973 through 1977.

Ok guys,
I just bought a lower this morning (see link below) and I think it will work. It’s off a 1975 85 hp and from the previous post it should bolt up right? If there is anything specific I should do when it arrives please let me know. We’ve had lake weather for weeks and I’m stuck sitting on the side of the house in the captains chair being sprayed by the hose. :D

I'd just make sure the shift rod is set at the correct height before you re-install it.
