1975 15hp waterpump issue

just got this motor and fixed the reed valves and engine runs great even idles by itself ,thanks to all the help from this forum,installed a new waterpump kit and when i took old pump off the inpeller fins were facing in both directions ,i put the new one in with the fins facing in the direction most of the fins on old pump were,started engine up and water was not coming out in a stream just spitting out,lower unit is completely submerged in can of water ,but no real stream of water was coming out of the hole,tube was unobstructed all new gaskets ,is there a picture of this that i can look at,i have a manuel but covers broad range of these motors and it just says reassemble same as old pump.thanks in advance for any help you can provide

1975 you should get a mist or droplets out the exhaust relief ports, when idling in a barrel, not a constant stream.

thank you thats what i am experiencing motor idled for an hour and could still place hand on engine and not get burned ,thanks again
