HI
I ended up with a 1975 50 hp . Rope start motor. I have done some basic checks and can't get any spark. No obvious electrical cable damage. Are there any conditions such as neutral position that needs to be met. I checked the stop switch. Normally open so I have ruled that out . Any ideas would be appreciated. I did download a Johnson manual but its not very specific to this model.

would need to check the stator under the flywheel with DVA adaptor for multimeter. if sensor and power coils good, pretty safe bet you need to replace the power pack. also, ohm the ignition coils. .2 or thereabouts for the primarys, and 250 or so for secondarys.

you bet! Direct Voltage adapter. Another way of saying "peak reading" adapter. the stator puts out irregular voltage spikes, which are too fast for a standalone multimeter to pick up accurately.

OK so my stator has 3 leads 2 yellow and one brown. O.21 Ohm between the 2 yellows . Nothing else between the 3. My trigger ohm reading is 15 ohm.
my rectifier it seems isn't measuring properly . How do I check my rectifier
