I JUST BOUGHT A 1975 55HP CHRYSLER! ALWAYS BEEN A RUDE GUY, ANY QUIRKS W/ THESE ENGINES? ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED!! THANKS

earlier ones I believe are better then the newer ones. Get a shop manual and do maintenance and it should run good for you. On a 16 foot fishing aluminum boat you should get almost 30 mph. That is with a tail wind and going down wave. De carb often, replace impeller and thermostat. Would not hurt to check out the recirculation system. The puddle valve screens tend to foul. I dont think chrysler ever perfected the fuel reciruilation stuff. I have a late 60 model that still blows 145 on both cylinders and drains unburned gas into the lake. I drilled a small hole in the lower cowling and ran a hose with a small bottle to catch it so I dont leave a trail of gas where ever I go.<br /><br />I have had mine for 7 years and it has run good. You may have to rebuild the fuel pump and the carb and those parts are availible from NAPA. If you have any problems or concerns just post them.

THANKS EURO, READING OTHERS POSTS SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE DEPENDABLE W/ PROPER MAINTENANCE WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M WANTED!!!!
