Guys my whole engine went south last season, and the cost of things nowadays is unreal.

So i'm going to put this old girl back together. myself my own time.

I'm looking for:

1. 1 original size piston and rings

2. Lower unite parts, i think what happened on my lower unite, the lower shaft bearing was shot and then it must have skipped a gear and then all hell broke loose.

The area where the bearing fits on the vertical shaft is scored badly, worn out all weird.

If you have any parts or know of some or perhaps know of some that will interswap i'd appreciate the advise.

Thanks in advance

Regards

I have about 35 standard pistons for the 1970s-1980s 75, mainly lightweight ones, in Houston but won't be there until Aug. But presumably you'll need .020" over pistons (are your pistons and block scored?)-?

For rings and gearcases try Ebay. 'Aunt Leigh' (http://stores.ebay.com/ATV-AND-MARINE-PARTS-WAREHOUSE) advertises a good supply of parts for older OMCs on Ebay.

Is your motor 15" or 20"? Gearcases for 1975-1980s 15" models can be found advertised for sale on the racing site

and the more general fast boat enthusiasts' site

I'm not 100% on how to measure this to determine whether it's a 15" or a 20"

I think it's the driveshaft below the engine. I measured the top of selector shaft rod(forward/reverse) to the top surface of the lower end unite and it was pretty close to 20"

Distance from inside transom mount ('clamp brackets') to cavitation plate. Better yet, look at model nr., if long shaft (20") then model nr. contains an 'L' after about 1979 or 1980.
