1975 850 powerhead on a 1980 80 hp midestion and foot.

I got another post about my 80 HP is dont want to give up yet, but I have a 1975 85 HP i4 merc that I tore completely down to the block and should be good to go but the mid and lower section are in rough shape. The lower has been welded and the mid has rust in corroision. Would the block mount on my 1980 80 HP i4 merc midesection and lower. I know the late 60s and early 70s I 4 had a different bolt pattern and exhaust port's. I just wondered if its worth finishing up and keeping as a spare powerhead. I know the 75 is a distributor ignition and the other is adi .

The gearcases will interchange. What is wrong with the midsection?

Not sure if the midsections will interchange, but they might. Ignition systems are not swappable.

If you are correct on the years ...yes it will bolt up.
