Just made a deal with a guy for a free 1975 21' Cruise Craft. All I have to do is swap a 1988 140 hp Evinrude and a 1990 140 HP Evinrude. I get the older one and the boat after the switch. Needs a transoim and a face lift for sure.

Anyone have any experience with one of these? How about that motor swap... should be just about a straight swap, right?

That's funny... I dragged a 1979 model home the other day... Where are you located? I'm not sure I'm going to keep it - it will need some work and I want to pull the deck up and see what I'm dealing with first. Don't know anything aobut them, but some digging around on the web indicates that the've been aruond for a long time. The hull on mine sure looks solid and well designed to handle rough water... The transom is solid as well - surprised the you know what out of me. I bought it without a motor for the trailer (for next to nothing).

I noticed that the company is still in business, and mine looks like someone started to redo it... and has relatively new looking decals on it... perhaps can get some things from down under if needed...

Sent an email to Cruise Craft inquiring about the specs and such. Maybe they have something in the archives that can be of use. What size engine did yours come with? Mine is coming with a 140 Evi.... not sure what could have been original.

It came with no engine... for so little money that I could cut the boat up wit a swaz all and come out way ahead on the trailer alone... I'm assuming it'll handle pretty much anything reasonably sane and IF I keep it will probablyt wind up with a 200 or 250 on it... all depends on what I run across. With as deep as the keep is in the back, I could see twins mounted a little higher. That's a heck of a lot of hull for a 20-21' boat. Let me know if you hear anything back from the factory. and have fun! Cheers

*grumble grumble*

The guy that I had a "Deal" with backed out. He asked a bunch of questions about swapping the motors and controls. Next thing I know, he's doing the swap himself and selling the stuff he doesn't want. A deal used to be a deal. Oh well. It's not like my '85 Glastron isn't still begging to be finished.
