Re: 1975 Checkmate V-Mate II Restore

Excuse my ignorance, but what is that you troweled on between the transom and the transom wood? Peanut butter or PL type adhesive?
Nice job man! THere isnt much prettier than a freshly PBed piece of epoxy coated wood! And I mean thatHow many layers do you intend to do on the transom? THen are you moving to the stinger or what?
right on man! sounds like a plan to me. I guess I dont understand the supports you are making? Is it like a ledger board for the deck to screw to?
Thank you. Feel free to offer any input if you like.great thread!
Those are some seriously huge clamps! Good enginuity on making them. I'll have to buy some long bolts and make me a set for other woodwork.
Things are looking really well done. I love how cleanly filleted the transom ended up. You made your life so much easier with that filleting job. And is there anything prettier than a freshly resined transom on the bench? I still look back on the photo of redfury's transom before it went in. Wood looks so awesome with resin applied.
The knee bracing seems wierd. I don't recall seeing any other glass boats with it similar to yours. It may pose a challenge getting the deck to form nicely around them. also, good thinking on the notched trowel for the PB when gluing in the transom. I guess it pretty much like laying tile.
Thanks for the compliments and the advice.Great work on the transom. The wood is thick and your construction is probably better than factory. I wouldn't mess with adding those knee braces.
