1975 Evinrude 115,no spark

I have just purchased a 1975 proline 17' with a 115 Evinrude motor. It will not start. I checked for spark and there is none. I took it to a shop and he said that the ignition plate was bad and that the powerpack was going. He said he grounded the sensor and it started.It started again when i got it home,but the next morning it would not start. again no spark.Any help would be nice,Ron

Well... You were told by the shop what was going and what was gone. I would replace the things it needs. By passing or grounding sensors is not the way to go.<br /><br />You could purchase a manual and do the work yourself.<br /><br />Bob

Remove all sparksplugs, ground the sparkplugs wires, check spark at 1 wire using fully charged battery. If you now have spark adjust timing sensor air gap.
