I recently purchased a boat with a 1975 75hp Evinrude "Hustler" motor. Model# 75543-B Serial# J0001198 I was wondering if the -B in the model is something special as I havn't seen it in any of the numbers I have looked up. It seems to be a nice low hour motor. Anyone have a any coments on it? Thanks

Re: 1975 Evinrude 75hp numbers

Welcome aboard Kenny66
Those 1975 75 h/p were good motors.
I still run a 1975 85 h/p
They kindy of like consuming fuel but will run forever.
If you don't know when the impeller was last changed I would do that and run it like you stole it.
Answer to your question is that the B at the end of your model number means nothing to us as laymen it is a production run number they use for the builder.

Re: 1975 Evinrude 75hp numbers

Thanks bubbakat. I got this motor when I bought a Glasspar Avalon to go with my Glasspar Seafair Sedan. It runs so good (sofar), that I think I will switch it with the low hour 70hp Chrysler I have on the Seafair. The Chrysler runs strong, but I just don't have much faith in it.
Thanks again for your input, and I am glad to be "aboard".
