Greetings all,
I have recently become a new boat owner. :D
I have been a silent member here reading all the great info that people have been so kind to leave. I took ownership of a mid '60s Starcraft Holiday with a 1975 Johnson 115 (Model # 115ETL75F
Serial # J42328185). The boat has not been in the water since 1998 and I know I will have to do some maintenance on the motor before firing her up. (carbs, water pump, thermostats, fuel pump, lower unit lube and a decarb). This boat was in my family growing up and was given to one of my brothers and now it was given to me. Very lite usage on the motor through it's life.

I would like to get an idea on parts that are compatible for this '75 115 from other year motors in case I need to troublehoot and replace. Things like ignition and possibly carbs and reeds? How about Trim and Tilt? For instance, I see that powerpacks and harnesses and stators are pretty spendy as well as Trim and Tilt parts and was thinking that good used parts from other motors would cut down on the cost of ownership.

So with that, what parts from other years are compatible for a 1975 115 Johnson crossflow?

Again, this forum is great and I appreciate all opinions.

Thanks,

Well, your best bet is probably going to be to use the parts diagrams at the BRP site. You can compare part numbers from your engine to those from other years and models.

Other than that, it's a little hard to give compatibility info in general. Specific parts are another story.

Here's the URL to BRP's parts diagrams site:

http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Engine.Diagrams.htm

CA,

Thanks, I didn't even think to go to the BRP site. I thought that they don't support a model this old other than consumable parts like pumps and whatnot. I was thinking that parts from a range of years would basically be compatible. I didn't think that they changed much through the '70's.

One other Question:
Would it be conducive to start to stockpile some parts for this older motor? I guess I am worried about availability of things like pumps, carb kits, etc.

Thanks,
