I have questions about removing my lower unit, to replace the intake screen. (1)Is there any type of proceedure to doing this, or is it just pull the bolts and go? (2) Do I have to drain the oil from lower unit before doing this? (3) Any springs, clips etc. going to fly out at me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks:confused:

Disconnect the shift rod in the motor cowling below the carb. Remove the bolts that hold the lower unit on and it should slide apart. You won't have to drain the oil, and you should tilt the motor when you are ready to remove the lower unit because you will need the room as the drive shaft slides out of its splines from the power head. It would be worth your time & money to buy a manual for your motor. It will pay for itself with your first project.
