hauled the old boat motor down from the back yard to remove the stuck lower unit and get it ready to sell or keep. strapped the motor between a tree and truck bumper with a come along The LU came off with a couple cranks! (after my dad got it in 1980 its been stuck) .

Now i oiled the cylinders, primed the fuel and it started right up....... for about 5-7 seconds, then died now has no spark.
Compression 140,145,140 . Need to know what to check now, the fuse is good, hot battery, just no spark.

I hope its something simple aka cheep!

Start with an OEM factory service manual. All trouble shooting procedures are in there and repair procedures also.

the very first place i would start with if you have no spark on all 3 plugs is the timer base , there are 4 wires that come from there . 1 for each coil & the black & white 1 is the earth ,witch goes on the opposite side of the power pack to the 3 wires on the bottom . chech for continuety with a meter

check for continuety from under the flywheel to the other end of the wires on the timer base? Do the wires break under the wire cover?
