i want to install a tack and water temp gauges on my 1975 85hp v4 johnson outboard
1 how many poles is this engine
2 what are good gauges [brand]
3 has anyone installed a temp gauge sender on this engine

Hey I was looking into to doing this for my 1970 85 hp v4 johnson. Did you do this yet? I really like the idea of knowing what my temp is.

Make sure to get an outboard motor tach. Setting is 6P for tach. Temp gauge is easy ... see below. You motor may have heads with tapped boses.

Just make sure you get a marine tach. You can add on a temp sender fairly easily. You will need a j-bracket to hold it in contact with the head. Unscrew one of the head cover bolts and mount it there. Teleflex makes a lot of marine gauges that are reasonably priced.
