1975 merc 85 carb jets

Does mercury still make carb jets for these motors? I am lokin for a .076 carb jet to richen up this motor to keep from burnin pistons!

If you're going to modify things just drill em out but make sure it's to lean and are the jets really the problem and not a fuel blockage or weak pump

We saw this problem a lot in late 80's in-line 6s. The blocks were being coated on the inside of the water jacket and the heat was building up too much. Changed the mains to one size bigger, problem solved....

Took us burning up 3 pistons in one engine before we twigged.

You do not drill jets!!! Drilling jets leaves a swirl in material from the bit and can actually make the jet flow leaner!!! If you cannot find a replacment jet and must enlarge jet by hand use a jet reaming tool...
