Welcome to Iboats, parsonl.
The only 28hp Sears I can find is the '63-'68 McCulloch built 28hps. If these are them you could probably get a tiller handle from The Scott Guy.
Post your model number and we can find out the precise year for you. It should be 574.something.

Re: 1975, model 28, 28 hp Sears

Thanks for the reply.

The only ID #'s I can find are under the cover. It says Sears model 28.

At the bottom, right hand side there is a # 79075. I was taking the last two digits (75) as indicating that it is a 1975 year.

It is just a plain white motor with Sears, 28 on the outside.

I can find no plates riveted on anywhere.

I already contacted Donald Webb (Scott Guy) and he can't seem to find my motor on his radar either.

Any more suggestions?
Thanks,
Bill Long
