1975 sea ray restoration

Hello , I am in need of some help with a question I have about installing stringers, what is used on the bottom to bed the stringers into the hull? any advice would help this is my first rebuild

Tell us a bit more about your restoration and post some pictures of the project, if you can. Having a good visual always helps with responses.

As for bedding the stringers, most common is 'peanut butter' which is a mixture of resin and fiberglass bits to form the consistency of . . . you guessed it . . . peanut butter. There are other methods as well (adhesives, etc). A major consideration is to spread out the contact area so as not to create a hard spot on the hull.

There are many threads of boat restoration so you can browse around and learn from other's experiences.

Maybe start a thread in the restoration forum with some of the details of your restoration . . .

The transom is as far as I got it's been a while and now it's time to get back at it. The boat sat outside for a few years. The boat is a 1975 sea ray srv 190 . it has a inline 6, 165 hp mercury, outdrive is a type one. I went through the out drive a couple of years ago its been sitting in my basement, the engine is covered and all in tacked. I will need to replace the gauges and steering system helm. I will need some guidance. The first question I have is should I add more tabbing on the bottom and the sides I used 1708 and used 3/4 marine.doubbled up with epoxy as the glue. the old transom was about 1 inch thick.
