I have all the same teak and hardware as you do. I have a SRV180 all my hardware is EXACTLY the same. I did the same thing. In the winter i sanded and used teak oil just like you did. I even have the same aluminum pieces that the wood fits into for the step things on the top of the cap. Those pieces are especially nice cause boat manufacturers do not have things like that now a days. I cant wait to update my project!!! my SRV180 has outboard 115 yamaha though. Yours is a I/O so i think we have the same amount of room. But i opened up the bow of mine to be a fishing boat.

Well guys after 2 coats of teak oil and 4 coats of spar urethane the teak is finally done! At first I was just going to coat it with the teak oil but after some research and thinking I just did it. I used Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane Satin finish. I must say I am very impressed with the finish. I sanded with 220 after each coat and it came out beautiful! Now I just need to wash up old boat and put the teak back on. Once I do I will get some more pics but for now here are the pics of the finished teak. It might be hard to see the difference in the pics before and now but trust me it looks beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone who is refinishing their teak.

If you compare the pictures side by side with the previous pics you can really see the difference.

Well guys the snow is finally gone!! I was able to pull my boat out of the driveway last week. Progress has been really slow the past week because of the wonderful rain we have been getting up here. They are saying that ice out should be coming soon so hopefully she will be ready for it.

The weather was OK yesterday, no rain at least so I was able to do some work on the boat but not too much. My buddy and I installed the new starter and tried to make some sense out of the mess of a wiring job. After 3 hours of work there really isn't much to show besides the starter but it's getting there.

Monday I have some high expectations. I'm planning on installing the new thermostat, exhaust bellows, reinstalling the drive and hopefully firing her up! Then I have to move on to the trailer. I have to completely rewire the trailer because like the boat whoever did it made a mess out of it. Luckily rewiring the trailer won't be as much work as the boat will be.

So that is the update for now. I know it doesn't sound like much but Monday I should have more for you guys.

Finally I have an update....

Monday my buddy and I got the exhaust bellows replaced then got the drive back on. We also replaced the thermostat and fired her up!! I am really starting to get excited now with everything coming back together. I was starting to get really overwhelmed but this was just the boost I needed. It took a little to get her going but once we did she purred like a kitten, which makes me a very happy guy! After letting it warm up for a while everything seemed perfect. Temp was solid and there were no leaks!

Now my next step is to figure out the damn problem with the trim/pump it will only trailer up but won't go down without someone putting pressure on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think the lines might have air in them so I am going to try and bleed them before I do anything. It is supposed to be really nice up here this weekend so I might see if I can get her in the water, if I do I will def try and get some pics. So I guess that is it for now I will try and update when I can.

Greetings, jrolland. I hope you've thanked your father! 5 years ago, I was searching for a runabout to warmover and enjoy. I spotted a 190 in the Boattrader, was completely taken by it's lines and stance in the water, and had to have one of my own. Ultimately had to "settle" for a 1979 SRV195 and couldn't be more pleased. I ended up completely gutting, reupholstering, repainting and modernizing "the beast". You have a beautiful boat begging to be refreshed. I'm now familiar with most of what you may be facing and would be more than happy to share anything I've learned. This is the first "thread" (?) I've come across dealing with the SRV exclusively, hopefully appropriate to access the SRV knowledge base for the only real question I have, that being that mine has the gas tank between the ski locker and engine (228). This would seem to prevent the level attitude I first appreciated with the 190. Was this an anomoly for that model? I hope this isn't considered to be hijacking a thread, only wanting to stay within the SRV discussion. Thanks!

I am getting to join your club! My dad called me today and told me if I didn't take his '75 SRV190, he was going to give it to a charity, just to get rid of it.

I haven't seen the boat in 15 years or so, so I don't know what I am getting into.

The rays look great guys! Mine on the other hand is still in pieces and is spending the winter covered by a tarp. This year however I was smart enough to go out after every snow storm and clear it off. So hopefully I won?t have the ice problem again.

Over the summer I didn?t work on it too much after I discovered the steering is really hard (like a car without power steering) and I also found that at least one of the exhaust manifolds is leaking, not a lot but enough to be bothersome and cause the engine temp to rise. After I replaced the starter I have had intermittent problems with the starter not engaging, other than that I have not done a thing with it. Hopefully I will be able to get going on it again this spring and maybe it will even see the lake. I've got my fingers crossed, but I?m not holding my breath.

If anyone has any suggestions about possible fixes for anything I have said above feel free to post them or even email me (vze2wh9d@msn.com) I don?t visit the forum too much these days but any help is really appreciated! Thanks guys!!

picked mine up today. Here's a quick picture of it.

The rays look good on the outside but how are they running? and how are the interiors? I know my floor is kind of soft.

You guys must have the ford 302 in those, correct?

There is a TON of great information on this website pertaining to old Sea Rays. I'm picking up my "new old boat" this week. I'm unsure of the exact model number but it's a 20' 1975 Sea Ray with a 351 Mercruiser.

As near as i can tell its identical to the SRV 190's except for differences in the passenger side / center area.

I'll be posting some photos as I start to get myself in trouble. The big part of the restoration is replacing a soft floor and probably a lot of the underlying structure. Any tips / links to more info on this will be appreciated!

Well ATM I am trying to sell it because I have neither the time or the money. As far as the hull goes its actually in pretty good shape. It is nice and shiny (when its clean) lol. In all of the pictures in the thread she is very dirty.
