Re: 1975 Super Sport 16' boat requesting admission to the Starmada! (2nd Splash compl

Lining up the center window(again) was a PITA...as usual, but it's good to go now.

I've have the uflex for 13 months. I have no idea what would cause it to break like this. It sucks that I have to pull the motor off the transom to get the cable ram out of the steering tube.

I have no idea what website I bought it from though. I'm going to assume that'll need to contact Uflex directly regardless of where I bought it.

Called Uflex today. Guy said to email him a pic of the damage...and to include my shipping address. Sounds like they're going to warranty the cable without any hassle at all (fingers crossed).

Sounds like the news is good on the cable front. Pulling the motor to switch out the cable is a pain.

Bummer on the cable. Really is a shame that there isn't quite enough room to get the cable back in... but no worries there BII... I pulled mine so many times I got it down to about 30-40 minutes start to finish!!! Not that is really something to be proud of... but it really does get faster! :)

Nice to see further progress! Even if you have to take a momentary step backwards. At least you know it is going to work perfectly!

Yeah at least you don't have to undo all the electrical and throttle cables. Just hang the motor from something, unbolt it and move it to the side a bit.

UFLEX contacted me today and are going to send a new cable out to me...and they aren't requiring me to send back the defective cable.

Great customer service!

Trolling motor battery under the front casting seat location. The battery will be framed in....and accessible from a hatch in the floor at the front of the bow.

I want to fill in the gap between the hull and the perimeter of the casting deck, so water can't get into the storage area under there.

Any suggestions on what to use? Caulking of some kind...or maybe liquid nails?

New steering cable arrived today.

MANY THANKS TO UFLEX FOR THEIR EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Weather sucks here in NY so I haven't done a ton to the boat. I did manage to lift it off the trailer(in the garage)...and get all the rollers lowered a bit, and also adjusted the roller bunks. It was a huge pain in the butt. If I need to do any work on the trailer in the future, I'll just launch the boat and do the work in the parking lot.

Good deal on the cable. You won't be the first or the last to do trailer work at the ramp. :)

Now that the keel rollers are level(and about 3" lower)....it should help launching/retrieving .

I inspected the winch post and found one of the U-bolts(holding the post to the tongue) was snapped....and the other 2 u-bolts were brittle. I was able to snap them with couple whacks with a hammer! Glad they didn't fail while I was trailering the boat. It would've been quite a mess.

Looking good & Good deal on the steering cable!

If the hull is rigid where the deck-meets-hull, I've sealed the deck edges by adding fairing filler to epoxy resin (West Systems). They even sell a tube/plunger for a caulking gun to apply the goop! If there's flex in that part of the hull, then I'd use something that's more pliable.

Im hoping to use something simple/cheap. Epoxy is out of the question.
