I bought a cherry 1975 Newman charger tri hull with a 1975 V4 85hp Johnson on it last august. This thing ran great only used for a few hours a week tubing and joyriding until late September. I put it away in October I ran some stabil through the gas and fogged the engine. I have taken it out twice this year and when I went to take off from the bouys (motor was idleing fine before take-off). when I pushed the throttle down it wanted to spit and sputter. Then anything over 1/2 throttle it would just spit and die.. So I came home and replaced all the spark plugs. Took it out today and it ran great. Then I stopped and I felt some vibration(spitting and sputtering). Then I went to take off and it was lazy getting out of the hole then ran great for about another 10 minutes wide open. Swam for a bit then the same thing happened as I first mentioned idled to the ramp to bring it home. Idled poorly on the drive in. I put fresh gas in this year before the first trip out. After today was all said and done I ran about 3-4 gallons of fresh gas through it... Could I need to rebuild the carbs???? I just don't get it. Ran great last year and poor this year. It sat for 7 months roughly. All fuel lines seem fine and everything is sat like last year boat was stored indoors.
