Holy cow, we got some pics of some progress not just planning lol, looks good Jason. I'm looking forward to seeing how the interior unfolds.

Jason, I think dozer's on to something. A folding interior.Think of all the floor space you would have if you could just fold the interior up and out of the way. Here we go. Back to the drawing board.

Whew - dropped in about a week ago around page 160 or so and took my time getting here. Just a great project J and I love the vids. Primo motor install too! Keep plugging man while I circle back to square one to check out how this crazy adventure began....:)

Jas. Morning to ya.:)

I've been chewing on the idea of putting the doghouse on casters. The way I see it, you can't just roll the D.H. stright out or there would have to be a gap between the D.H. and the deck. That would be loud and wouldn't look right. My idea would be to use spring casters. That way when you unlatch the D.H. from the deck, it rases up to clear your flooring and will compress back into place when you reattach it. Here's a link of what I'm talking about. They use them on roll around steps in warehouses.

http://www.aiecasters.com/caster-spring.htm Just bolt them on the inside-lower-corners so they lift the D.H.up about 1/2" and you're good to go. Whatcha think?

Yup, you and I are thinking the same thing. That ^^^^^ was one of my ideas and I have one other possibility for that part of the build. I'll need to hash it out some and see where we end up.

Yah sorry man, slow going. There are (were) a lot of little steps to putting this thing together. This morning I do believe I completed the final assembly of the last few pieces on the starboard seat box. I still have a bunch of shaping, sanding, sealing and then the install yet. I'd like to think I can have it installed and some progress photos up soon eh:)

Nope, not fading on you guys:)

Actually worked on that starboard seat box for about another hour this morning (epoxy fillets). It's coming together, slowly;)

I loved the schematics... If you build that dog house, you may need to build two of them ;)

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Okeedok, here's what I've been up to on the Starboard side seat box...

Pieces cut out of 1/2" Arauco plywood and starting assembly...
P1080098.jpg

Assembly, brackets used just to keep things at 90 degrees...
P1080099.jpg

More assembly, all the joining is essentially rabbit/dado just created with full width ply rather than cutting (if that makes sense)...
P1080104.jpg

Marking for the hatches. I thought about going with three separate hatches (one on the side too) for a minute - then I realized I could actually fit my downriggers in that box if I left it all open on the inside...
P1080109.jpg

Hatches cut...
P1080112.jpg

Then I laminated another 1/2" piece on top making for 1" thickness and a rabbit for the hatch covers...

Re: 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

So here's what the inside looks like to this point...
P1080114.jpg

Added another cleat to the back side...
P1080117.jpg

Cut out another piece of 1/2" ply...
P1080119.jpg

Added it right in the middle of the box where the helm seat will eventually be installed. That makes for 1.5" thickness...
P1080120.jpg

Then I added two more cleats, laminating everything together, bomber...
P1080121.jpg

Extra cleats for the corner too...

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Finished assembly...
P1080124.jpg

I wanted this thing to be nice and strong so I got my materials together, epoxy, wood flour and coffee...
P1080125.jpg

Mixed up some thickened epoxy/peanut butter...
P1080126.jpg

Pre coated with epoxy...
P1080127.jpg

Then smooshed/smoothed in peanut butter in all the joints...
P1080128.jpg

Then stroked on a coat of epoxy over top...
