Yah - I'll just have a lift out piece of deck in the cabin there so I can check out any issues that may come up.

Have you pulled the sender and looked inside the tank?It should be baffled to keep fuel under the fuel sender. If it's not,it probably a cheap made tank. Not a big deal.Placing the end with the sender at the back is a good idear.Took me a minute to realize the tank was in backwards.LOL

Remember to double clamp your hoses with stainless steel worm drive clamps. It's saved my sorry @$$ a few times.

Yah, before it gets installed for good I'll pull out that sender and take a look. I'll also make sure there isn't any crud that needs tending to in there.

While we are on the subject...

Anybody out there know an easy way to do a quick test on this sender?? What do I hook where?

Thanks!:D

The sender is basicly a rheostat (works off of resistance). You need 12 volts and you can test her. I used my multimeter and moved the arm up and down. The voltage changed so I figured it was good.

You can probably hook a battery up to the sender and wire the fuel gage in the loop. Move the arm up and watch the gage. I'm going to say it needs to be tested before you put it under deck. It would suck to have to pull it again.

Ah, that's the beauty of it my man! If I have a problem I can just pop up the deck inside the cabin there and fix what needs fixen:)

Thanks don!

Jas, you should be able to just use a multimeter to test the sending unit without a battery. Set it to ohms and then just put the leads on the connections and move the float arm. Not sure which way will show more resistance but it should change on the resistance as you move the arm.

IIRC,it should be O-90.I can't remember if 90 ohms is full or empty.

Good explanation here on how a fuel sending unit works. Might even be better than my explanation.:p I said might, you be the judge.;)

edit;just read further down in that post, i see where you posted in it. ha, that's funny. It's a great explanation.

Thanks guys! I'll see if I can get that sender off and checked today.

i see where you posted in it

Yah, you can see what I posted too. I will for sure struggle through wiring this rig up. This stuff is all new to me and way out of my league!

Well no progress on the rig yesterday. I couldn't even walk in my shop there was so much trash everywhere! I don't know who keeps messing it up! So, I spent the morning getting that all cleaned up as I'll be on some wood working stuff very soon (hopefully)

Happy Sunday Guys!.

Jas - don't let the wiring stuff intimidate you. DC circuits are just loops that start at one post on the battery and end at the other post.

They're really not much more than this with some extra doo-dads thrown in:

Then of course on a big boat like this, there's about a zillion of those circuits, so you just gotta label everything to keep it all straight in your head. But the general concept (above) remains the same.

Thanks guys! Yah, when I get there I'll be spending some quality time in the Electrics section. I have bookmarked a lot of threads with great diagrams for future study.

Got just a couple of things done today.

Last load of wood for the year, down the shoot!
IMAG0133.jpg

Ryan and McKenna gave me a hand this morning. Yah, I know. Ryan has a dragon get up on. You would wear one to if it came in your size.:D

Got the sender off...
IMAG0136.jpg

Everything looked good and clean in the tank which is cool.

I did hear something clanking around in there, fished this out...
IMAG0137.jpg

My best guess is that it broke off from the chain on the gas cap long ago.

I made my way to town and bought a bunch of 1/2" Arauco Ply too...
IMAG0135.jpg

($50 at the gas station = 1/2 tank for the beast, grumble)

Man, I think I really like this Arauco stuff! I believe that it was EZ that initially tipped me off to it, thanks buddy!

A little more expensive than standard exterior ply, cheaper than MDO, and half the cost of marine grade ply. When I walked into Menard's today I was pretty sure I'd go home with MDO. But that Arauco, at $15 per sheet less I was sold. It looks pretty darn good to me. Sanded smooth on one side and even better on the other. I did have to look to find some good pieces and the ones I got still have a few voids here and there, but it'll work!

Cheers!

I love that you have a dragon suit to pst, awesome!

I bet you are thinking of Ethan, but shoot, both the boys are doing great! I love hanging out with them.

Sorry bro, not yet. We had some nice snow showers the other day but nothing sticking so far. Yah, I actually don't mind the winter one bit. Course my rig isn't water ready yet either.

All that plywood is for the deck, curtains, seat boxes, jump seats, dog house and anything else that needs to be built.

Started in on cutting the deck pieces tonight:D

Good deal on the wood.

Yep,I'd wear that dragon suit if it'd fit me.

I'm digging that improvised wood shute.

Yep,that little gem in the tank is a cotter key, that use to connect to the gas cap chain, and kept from dropping the cap over board.Cheap fix to an expensive problem. Those caps used to be expensive.
