Re: 1976 25 hp Points question

Just me again, still haven't got that motor running? I've got a compleate setup for the points + flywheel , and a newer electronic system that will fit your needs if you so wish to try them out. Just give me a call and we can work something out if you want. Have you metered the coil grds. to the block yet to make sure they are good? You sure have had a bad time with it so far , just wish I lived closer so I could help find the problem with it.

Give a call if need be,

Oldman570:facepalm:

there is no electronic ignition for this motor. the 76 25 and 35 are completely different motors. i hope no one has read this thread and gone out and bought a magneto and power pack for their motors

Re: 1976 25 hp Points question

The saga continues, so I moved the exciter coil to the "other" side of the armature plate and was able to get an excellent blue spark 7/16 or better on both cylinders every time I pulled the rope. When I run her she only fires on the bottom, There was some play in the arm plate so I used Joe Reeves fix and now there is no play at all. Tried her again and it still only fires on the bottom. I switched the coils and she still only fires on the bottom. The internal exciter coil is mounted flush to the boss so it does not get smashed by the flywheel but I am thinking I should cheat it out a little to reduce the air gap. Not sure what else to do. Has anyone else had great spark on the tester and then no fire when she is running? Fuel pump is new, carb is clean, points, condensers and wires are new, disconnecting kill switch does not affect anything. My next move is to mess with the air gap between the exciter coil and the flywheel. Any advice or thoughts appreciated.

oooook...first exciter coil location...bottom lost spark....swapped exciter coil to other side....top lost spark....same magnet location in the flywheel seems to be firing things ok....opposite magnet is causing loss of spark....can you borrow another f/w from an exciter coil setup?..'1973 - 76 use the same f/w <part no. 0581792 >
