Hi, I recently purchased a 76 Evinrude 35hp outboard. It has been sitting unused for around 3 years due to a water pump failure. I fixed the pump, and noticed that one cylinder had little compression. I figured out the head gasket blew, so I replaced and both cylinders have great compression now... My questions are<br /><br />1 what is the fuel/oil ratio? 50:1?<br />2 How many turns out should the idle<br /> air/fuel mixture be turned out?<br />3 This engine likes to studder and buck <br /> around at idle... Would this be from the<br /> air/fuel setting being wrong? <br /><br />Thank you all for your help!!
<br /><br />1. Yes. 50:1<br />2. Start with 1-1/2 turns out from seated.<br />3. That is normal when cold. If she does it warm the idle is a bit too lean.<br /><br />Get yourself a Repair Manual.<br /><br />Good luck.
