hi i have a 1976 40 hp johnson it runs great but everytime i plug the two purple electric choke wire together it blows the fuse and i loose everything also it doesnt rev up to hi speed with out messing with the pull choke on motor thanks for any help
sounds as if something has rubbed a wire and shorting it out, or remove the wires on the solenoid, and see if it is shorted out. carb cleaning, including removing high speed jet, and a rebuild kit are in you future.
