1976 55HP Evinrude

Good day. I am looking at an 88 polar kraft bass boat with the above mentioned motor on it. I do not have a ser. no. for it. When looking around for parts for it on here I find that the 76 model is missing a lot of parts available. ie, water pump replacement and such. I own an old mercury from same year and know that a lot of things can be found elsewhere. but not all. Is this a bad motor? Are parts hard to find? I already have read a bit on shiftting problems. Owner says it shifts OK willing to take out on lake. Had carbs rebuilt and new fuel pump and lines replaced last season. Any info would be appreciated.. Thanks

you can go here http://shop.evinrude.com/ clik parts, and follow promts. and see what is available, and what is not. they are hydro-mechanical shift lower units, i think 77 and above are mechanical shift lowers.

Thanks TD. Looks to be I am going to own my first rude. A lot more available than my merc and a bit cheaper. Now I will have to find a manual.
