I had heard of boiling carb when I was a kid, long time ago. I think back then they must not have had the good cleaners that they have today. Get a can of carb cleaner and do it right, make sure all the passages are open with compressed air.

I ran the boat last night and it seemed to run alot better, both smother and faster. all I did was the de-carb and run Seafoam, I ordered a carb rebuild kit because its still leaking oil from the carbs. do you think rebuilding them will fix the leak?

I was also wondering, My boat doesn't have a tach, is there any way to know when I'm starting to "red line", or what is to much throttle?

Rebuilding the carburetor float valves should stop the leak if your reeds are OK.

If you can get a OMC/BRP or Teleflex Tach with a 6P setting, the gray pre-wired sender wire is folded over and taped in the control. It connects to post 7 on the engines terminal block.

The tach thats in the boat is a Teleflex, can I just run a wire from it to post 7 ?

The boat has a Teleflex tach on it, its just not wired up. Could I just run a wire from it to post 7 on the engines terminal block

Yes, just run from the gray wire connection on the terminal block to the "S" post and connect the black ground and the red positive. The + and - should come from the ignition switch so that the gauge is off when the ignition is off.
