Hey guys
I got a 1976 Evinrude 55HP for $250 and got lucky so far with it. Compression turned out to be 150 PSI on both and starts with up every time very easy , basically you look at the key funny and it starts.
I noticed it has no tell tale and had a few questions to ask and a video to show you it run and were the water is coming from (and not ).
I ran the motor at Idle for 10-15mins. Temp reached 160 F and stayed there (IR gun). But no mist/water from the 2 exhaust ports. But it did come from behind the lower mount area from a hole on each side of the lower midsection. Looks like the holes are factory but Im not sure.
1)I know you can tap into the head for a add on tell tale,but can I just find a outer exhaust cover that has a 90 degree fitting on it and use that like my dad's 1977?
2) I know there should be exhaust misting and such from the 2 exhaust ports, but I get nothing from there. Only from the lower mount area seen in the video.
3) Also should I be getting water coming from that little hole seen in the video right below the water intake?
