just kidding elaborate for us a bit and we can be more helpful
does it have good spark? this is checked by pulling the boot off the spark plug stick a screw driver inside the boot hold it 1/2 an inch away from the spark plug and crank the engine over it should jump the gap but be careful as itll sting pretty bad if you touch the metal part of the screwdriver

is it getting fuel ? take the spark plugs out and look at them if they are wet your getting fuel but not enough spark if the spark ends are dry they should look like a nicely toasted marshmallow if theyre black and gooy looking theyre fouled and need to be replaced

make sure you are using FRESH fuel in a 50:1 mix of gas and tcw-3 oil

reattach the emergency lanyard & try again. :)

Just bought the motor & it's never run good, or it was running fine and now it won't start? Symptoms leading up to the no-start condition?

Compression, spark, fuel, if she gets all three she starts. If she don't, she don't.
What's the compression?
Levi's described a good spark check procedure -- if you got spark on all 4, you can test for spark quality with an inline tester (couple bucks at car parts store), set the gap for 7/16", clip it to the engine block, attach the plug leads (one at a time) and look for a strong blue spark while cranking. If it can't jump a half-inch gap in the open air without a spark plug, it's not firing in the hole under heat & compression.

If compression & spark check out ok, plugs in good condition correctly gapped, fuel line holding pressure, fuel quality is good, then a carb rebuild is usually the next step.

What all have you done? Unless you've had the flywheel off, timing is pretty much going to be ok.

[btw, never seen spark plugs compared to "toasted marshmallow", but I like it, it's perfect]

Do yourself a favor and get an OEM shop manual. It'll save everyone a lot of time.

If the engine is flooding that quickly then you have a fuel delivery issue. When you worked on the carbs did you set the float level correctly? Before you reassembled did you tip the carb upside down and blow into the fuel inlet to see if the needle and seat were closing? Did the engine ever backfire severely? If it did, the flywheel key may be sheared or partially sheared which throws timing off. If you worked on the carbs you very likely need to do a "link & sync" (synchronizes carb opening with timing advance". This is not a "short" procedure and I'm not going to type several pages of it for you so I too will suggest you do whatever you need to do to obtain a service manual. Check your local library. They often have them. Spark needs to jump at least a 3/8 inch gap. Just "sparking" is not good enough. Did you get the spark plug wires on the right cylinders when you changed plugs? Do you have a good battery. The engine needs to spin fast enough to start. Is the choke system operating properly?
