hi! any one know how i can test if the rectifier is charging the battery?

Of course.
1. Clip a voltmeter to the battery posts. Note the voltage.
2. Start and run the motor awhile. The voltage should slowly increase as the battery charges.

EDIT: I just noticed your other thread. Get that thing running first. One thing at a time.

You can test the rectifier by following Joe Reeves' instructions on the Engine FAQs board.

BUT if you use a digital meter use the diode test setting.
Digital meters do not usually work for diode testing on the ohms ranges like anaolg meters do
