if fiddling with the base gasket caused a reaction ... I would continue to focus on the pump base & gasket before going OEM...pump. carefully apply a light coat of sealant on both sides of the pump gasket and remount. I have never seen the need to do so by ...hey we can't see the problem from here.

I would take the Pump apart again, and reassemble it making sure all the Parts are undamaged and are positioned correctly. Sanding any Gasket Mating Surface where Raised Areas are involved, can result in creating Leaks. Without actually having the Pump in my Hands, it is not easiest thing to troubleshoot.

UPDATE: The old girl is back in action! New OEM Fuel Pump was the fix. After comparing the 2 pumps, I think it must have been an after market pump because the Evinrude was a bit thicker 3/16". However, I was using an OEM rebuild kit, but who knows? A little lighter in the wallet but I get to get out on the water for the first time this summer? Thanks for everybody's suggestions, very valuable info I will use going forward.

It was worth it. That motor will last longer than any of new crap out there. And always be cheaper to fix. Now show us some fish pics
