1976 Evinrude Steering problem

So..

Got a new boat, with a 1976 Evinrude 35 hp on her...

Got the motor running with in a few minutes, not to bad of a deal..

The issue now is, I do not have the steering components...
I have found the drag link to buy, but not the portion that connects to the motor.

or does the drag link connect straight to the motor on this model?
I figured it had an arm that came out on it??

Guess you got to buy these at the marine shop...

I could make one, but the time would not do for the cost...

The 1976 35HP motor used a steering arm connector kit, part # 0173037 superseded by 0173699.

That kit is still in production and should be available through any BRP authorized dealer. Try sea-way.com.

Be aware that all are not equal. Different size/year motors use different drag links. The 35 is kind of unique.

I was looking at making one of my own, however, the short handle on the motor it's self will make that fun...

I just have to find the kit...

I have found a couple online... $70+......
