1976 Gulfstream Update

Updating a '76 Gulfstream W/A with OMC 3 liter to outboard. Engine and outdrive out, transom already sealed, glassed, and gelcoated (thanks to this forum for all the advice) and bracket and Yamaha 175 mounted.<br />Getting ready to install Seastar hydraulic steering, electrical, and throttle/shift. <br />Any advice or input from similar updates would be appreciated. Since there is not a whole lot of activity on this site, thought I'd try to get some tips and advice flowing. I need recommendations on how to run the hydraulic hoses through the transom; power and electical through hoses to the engine. I have some ideas, just want to confirm my suspicions with already tried and tested refits.<br />2manyboats: read your posts from earlier about transom repair. I have some experience with how its put together as this is my second Grady that I've done some transom repair to. Just read it tonite however and I see the post is closed.

Things are coming along slowly, not due to problems but time and the heat. All hydralulics are in and working great. Its amazing how good things can work out if you actually stop and read the instructions! Rewired the boat with new guages, switches, and dash.
Now that I can move around the boat and see how its built, these really are solid boats. I do have one observation that I need some help with. There appears to be many areas under the deck on either side of the original motor well that is sealed in with no means of getting into. I can only assume that these are filled with foam and sealed up. Also, up forward on either side of the cabin floor,under the seat cushions, large void areas also sealed and probably filled with foam. I would appreciate a response from someone knowledgable about these designs if this is indeed the case. Also, should I plan on cutting an access hole to these voids to check the condition of the foam? The exterior is solid with no signs of damage, but in reading about how foam absorbs water from the smallest areas, I would just like to know for safety.
