been awhile since ive been here! Anywho, i am working on a johnson 2 hp carb.....1976 i believe......when i removed the adjustible high and low speed jets, the blunt tipped needle was in the top hole, and the pointy tapered needle was in the bottom hole, are these the correct locations?
Thanks

I think that would be wrong.----Pointy one is usually the low speed.

Neither needle is a typical blunt tipped high speed needle. The slow speed has a shoulder and the high speed does not. Look at pics. High speed is part number 316910 and slow speed is 316453. Both needles have tapered points.

Maybe the slow speed needle is broken and the tip is stuck in the carburetor.----Is this a new " aquasition " for you ?----Did it still run OK ?

New to me , and supposedly worked well when it was put away. Not sure how it worked well as the packing for the high speed needle was on the outside ......yes outside of the carb on the needle shaft.
The “blunt” needle that was in the low speed location doesnt appear to be broken

You see it al the time.-----" worked great the last time it was used "----And there are some other variations of that tale.-----

Well -----some brass needles had a STEEL point in them because of the " twisting it off " problems by heavy handed folks.----So it appears the tip is missing.------Should be easy to find what is going on.----Or bring it over I fix.

Since there is no real stress on it, blue probably will hold it. If you already have blue but would have to go out and buy a whole bottle for just one drop, I'd forgive you if you choose blue. BTW, Harbor Freight has it CHEAP!
