hello everyone I have a 1976 johnson 200. I am having problems starting it at first when I turned the ignition it was making a clicking sound and it felt like it was coming from the starter silinoid. but how do I know for sure if it is the silinoid or the actual starter that is gone bad. I hope some one can give me some helpful information thank you!

You can take a screwdriver and jump the posts on your solenoid and see if your starter kicks in. If it does then your solenoid is bad. Start with cleaning your battery posts, and all starter/solenoid connections
