1976 Johnson 25hp driveshaft issues

Got a 76 Johnson 25hp for free, came with no lower unit in it, i was having issues getting the driveshaft to go into the bottom of the crankshaft, to me it looks like the driveshaft snapped off in the bottom of the crank, I know the pics aren’t the greatest, any input would be appreciated, thanks

Remove the Powerhead and take a look at the bottom of the Crank

Can you dim the light on your inspection camera to lessen the glare?

Remove the power head , if the top part of the shaft is stuck in there it needs to come off anyway.

If it is a bkoken shaft, the lower unit gearcase and exhaust housing need to be checked for parallism. Or just take your chance of breaking another one. Instructions are in the service manual.

Agreed ---a bent / warped exhaust housing might be the problem.-----Those shafts are known to fail and it looks like someone cut it with a " hot knife" ---a clean cut.
