1976 Johnson 70 control cables

I have a 1976 Johnson 70 Hp with a 1985 Johnson remote from a 115 HP engine. I also have new teleflex pre-79 remote cables. Is there any way to connect these together?
I have the crimp connectors and cable ends for the 1976 remote because I did not realize that I had the 1985 remote and ordered them thinking I was missing them and the cable ends. I got the motor and control from my brother as he had just swapped his 70 for the 115 he must have used the 70hps' remote with the 115.

Will the Post 79 cable fit on the pre79 motor I cannot tell from the pictures?
I cant tell because you add attachments to the pre-79 cables,

If I remember right.

The old style cables have plastic engine ends that have clips. You say you have those?

As I recall, they connect the same way inseide the control box.
