started up my merc this year to having a very poor amount of water coming out of the water pee whole. so i rebuilt the water pump with all new parts took it to the lake and had the same problem when at idle. at high rpm was fine, but idle was no water coming out. so i took the pump apart again everything was fine but i found that the copper tube that slides into the water pump housing was cracked so obviously loosing my water there. not sure how to get that tube out was hoping someone might have experience in removal of this tube and also where i might find one. or maybe its just simply a piece of 1/2 soft copper tubing

The water tube is a simple piece of 1/2 rigid copper, likely type N. It has a custom bend, so it can meet the waterpump. I ended up cutting off the bad portion of the water tube on my '77 Merc 1500. I was able to keep the bend of the tube, and used a common 1/2" copper coupler to splice in a new piece of water tube.

The top of the water tube is inserted into the same rubber seal as is in the water pump outlet. I ended up pulling the powerhead and exhaust extension, in order to re-insert the water tube into that seal and the midsection casting.

Thanks for the tips Chris. Pulled the power head tonight found that the tube was actually worn from coming into contact with the drive shaft. Will have to find a new piece and give it a custom bend. Thanks again for the help.
