Check the two stator wires using a 50V AC settting. You should see 15VAC or so. Next check the battery on the 50V DC setting. When the motor is revved up a bit (use the cold start lever), running on the muffs, the battery voltage should rise a volt or two. Any voltage rise at all means the system is working.

Ok guys,
Well I pulled off the lower unit, that was a piece of cake (chocolate I may add). Found imperler toast. 2 vanes broken off and logded in housing. The rest taking a set curled. Now my questions, Can you replace the rubber gasket in the upper housing or is that why they sell the upper housing? Tried to remove the flush port plug but ended up destroying the plug. I would like to chase the threads with a tap to clean up the minor corrosion, does anyone know the tap size for this port? Also is there an adaptor for a garden hose to insert into this port to flush the system. I will also need a new plug are they still available. If not I can make my own.
Thanks J.:)

Jet, The only rubber in the upper housing that I recall is the seal at the base of the copper water tube. It is replaceable, but hardly ever needs replacement.

As for the flush port. Why not plug it and forget it. Use the flush muffs instead. I guarantee the flush muffs will be cheaper and just as good.

Chris,
There is an "O" ring for the drive shaft in the upper housing of the water pump. Is that one replaceable? Mine is kinda chued up. From what I see on iboats parts pictures I dont see a "o" ring for that area. So I am under the assumption that you need to buy the housing??????
Thanks J.

Does anyone know the torque spec for the water pump housing bolt/nuts?
Is it possible to tighten to tight as to cause the prop shat to be hard to turn?
Would like to know before I tighten them to tight.

I don't know the exact torgue stats but just tighten them up slowly and evenly and eventually real snug in the typical star torque pattern to avoid warping the pump case, (avoid overtighening one at a time). It should not effect yer prop shaft rotation at all. Good Luck. JR
