I must be in Google and Ebay purgatory. I can't find the info I am seeking. I got my 1976 merc 850 running and then winterized last weekend. The motor doesn't have PTT and I would like to add it. I can't find a pic or any useful info via google, ebay, or searching the forum here.

What I would like to see are pics of the tilt and trim unit that would work with my 1976 Mercury 850 inline 4 motor. If someone has a link to a manual that shows it and where the pump is traditionally mounted if it is external to the unit that would be very helpful in my search to find a good workable unit. So many people on ebay list them with a description usually with a HP of the motor and nothing else as though they think they are universal.

Sorry for what feels to me like a moronic question. I just can't find the answer.

TIA,

Adam

Thanks FaztBullet. That's good info. It's kind of like my old Chrysler outboard where the tilt and trim unit was almost unchanged for 30 years. I did find a system that looked like that for a lot less so I am going to probably bid on it. Is that he same pump assembly that Merc uses on the mercruiser I/O's?

Do you happen to know if the tilt/trim units are covered in the Seloc manuals? I haven't ordered one yet. I'd like to see a pic or two of how the pump mounts up inside the boat and the system all together.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

I actually have purchased the appropriate pump an a complete trim system with all of the hardware and the entire transom assembly. I got it all on ebay in 2 seperate auctions with a total cost of about $180.00 including shipping. Also if anyone needs the installation and user manual for a twin ram tilt and trim system I have uploaded it to SCRIBD. Another forum member had uploaded it a page at a time as JPG's. I created a word doc out of it and exported it as a PDF.

It can be found here. It is around 7 MB. http://www.scribd.com/doc/75281168

Adam, here is an original FSM for your engine that is much better than the Seloc for a very good price.I hope that you can work out a deal with him on the shipping.I have been watching this for a while but just cannot tie up the money for it.Good luck,Ron G
