1976 Mercury 1150 where is the Tilt Motor?

Tilt/Trim doesn't seem to be working, no click or anything. Where is the trim motor located and where would I find the switch to manually trim/tilt it?

just follow the two hydrolic hoses to the pump

ok...they seem to go into the boat and connect into some big black thing that says Reverse Lock Operation...is this the Tilt Motor, and if so where is the manual release on this?

Yeah, thats the pump with the reverse lock knob instruction decal on it. Look a little further down in the center and you will see a knob about 5/8ths in diameter with knurls on it...it should be turned all the way counterclock wise. The switch(es) to operate it should be located at the Helm, be it on the shift lever or on a remote switch panel but it will be located at the Helm. To bypass the switches and test the motor directly you will need to use a jumper wire to touch between the large post on the solenoid (positive battery) to the other large post on the solenoid...if you have voltage on the battery post of the solenoid when you touch the two post together with the jumper wire you should hear the pump motor spin.

Thanks that worked (the knob to set it to manual)....now, someone was telling me that it is probably a broken fuse that cause it to stop working. Where would I be able to find the fuse on this motor to replace it?

Also, I got it to manually go up and down, and this worked fine for 1 time out but the next time I went out it would not go down all the way. I can't find anything that is blocking it. Any advice?

Jay, There is no fuse on that PTT unit. The motor has an overload switch inside the casing. You need to test for voltage on the motor to see if the solenoid and switches work properly. When you push the middle and top trim buttons together, there should be +12VD on the blue wire of the PTT motor. The solenoid should have closed and provided this voltage. When you push the down button, there shoud be +12VDC on the green wire of the PTT motor. Both of these voltages will be read with the common lead of the voltmeter on the black wire of the PTT motor or some other metal ground.
