I have a 1976 mercury black max 150, v6. I replaced the primer bulb and it's not picking up gas. There is gas in the fuel filter separator, but when I prime, nothings gets through. Any thoughts?

Also, the steering cable seems to be stuck inside the part it connects to at the transom. Is there a way to free up the cable from that section?

I am not sure what you are talking about. I do not see a little ball or pin at the end of the line hooked up to the motor. I will take a pic and post.

Is it still a "quick disconnect" fitting. One kind is a push and turn (coincides with your year) will be tha pin and a bayonet type (later years)will be tha ball.......?

It is not a quick disconnect type.
Its is a bayonet type a believe. The line from the bulb connects to the metal bayonet and secures with a regular hose clamp. I took pics but my phone isnt connecting to computer.

I did. Nothing. It's a brand new bulb I bought today. I can suck the gas out with my mouth, but the bulb will not push it out.

Hold the bulb with the arrow pointed strait up. Some of the cheaper ones won't work unless you do. And, try it with a different tank. You may have a stuck anti-siphon valve in your fuel tank.
