1976 mercury 7.5 prop shaft seal

Im noticing gear oil leaking from behind the prop on my 1976 mercury 7.5HP...im assuming its coming from the prop shaft seal...i changed the lower unit oil and it seemed a lil milky but not too bad...this is a fresh water motor...it seems to be a simple job but is there any thing i should consider or watch out for?...any help would be great...this is my first time working on a lower unit...i wish i had a cover nut tool but i dont...thanks all

First. are you sure it's lower end fluid, and not un burnt oil fuel. It will smell like gas. second make sure when change lower end lube, check for gasket pieces stuck on fill and vent on motor housing. and Always replace gasket/ washers when changing fluid.
