Not sure if you ever got an answer. Here's what I found with my Reinell -
I measured the old transom before I dug it out. When I made the new transom I had space on either side. I filled it with "Peanut Butter" and tabbed it all the way around. In hindsight I would have cut it closer to the edge. Maybe within a 1/2 " or 3/4". When you clamp the transom to the skin the PB will squeeze out and fill the gap.
As for the bottom, I would allow about a 1/4" for the same reason. You want PB to fill all of the voids. After the transom has set up, go back and run your fillets all the way around to fill any gaps.
