1976 Rienell Bow Rider restoreto

New to the forums and new to boat restoration. I picked up this Rienell for a steal and it over looked OK but the floor was rotted to sludge. The glass looked OK but u could pull it apart with my hands and the wood was like mud. We have pulled most of the electrical and flooring. Now down to the foam in most and it looks good overall not sure if I should replace it. Took a core sample and it seemed dry.

The biggest questions I got ATM was does anyone have pics of one of these in its original state please and does anyone know what fuel tank it originally came with.

welcome to iBoats!!! How did you core sample the foam?

Drove a metal pipe in till I got to the hull pulled that out and checked it.

The more I get into this I think someone repaired it before and used cheap wood and didn't seal the attachments like the seat screws all stainless but no form of sealant.

This is what we got it down to thus far. The foam all looks good and is super solid to stand on. Still got more clearing and cleaning to do. The fiberglass pulled apart so easy I think someone just did a crap replacement job. There was still several wooden "plugs" in the boat from where I think they poured the foam. The stringers all feel hard as rocks I know I should sample into one but i'm admittedly loathe to break into it as it seems so hard and solid. Its fully encapsulated in fiberglass. In the back they seem to have doubled up the back edge with extra wood and glass also where the battery sat. Or possible that was original.

I read on another post about testing the transom I weigh in about 270 and from lifting and dropping and trying to hope on the back of the motor point the trailer moved more then the boat. We had no flex or shift. So I think I am good there.

Assuming the foam is good my plan is to finish cleaning out the debris and cut the old flooring straight to the hull with my vibratory cutter then grind everything smooth.

Thinking 1/2 exterior ply for the new deck prepped with a coat of poly, 2 layers of 1708 x 12" tabbing, with 3 layers of 1708 across the wood using poly resin then going to paint it with something as yet to be decided. Sound good or should I go a different direction?
